GG6 Expansion Project at Exxaro’s Grootegeluk Coal Mine

In the GG6 Expansion Project at Exxaro’s Grootegeluk Coal Mine, we executed a lump sum design and engineering contract, along with the supply of equipment, procurement of materials, testing, manufacturing works, site installation, and commissioning of the 33 kV reticulation system. The project’s highlights encompassed the implementation of GIS switchgear in a power-house format at the GG1/GG2 Switching Station, the construction of a 2 x 80 MVA overhead line, the replacement of two protection panels at the GG1 Substation, and the establishment of two new transformer bays with associated primary and secondary equipment at the GG2 Substation. Completed in 2021 amidst the challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic.
